Need to replace front balancer shaft pulley?
Greetings,
I'm in the process of replacing timing and balancer belts (along with water pump, oil seals, etc) on my 92 Accord LX. When I was putting things back together I put the front balancer shaft pulley on backwards. Taking it off was no easy task and in the process I broke a little chip off of the side that helps keep the belt on the pulley (see picture). I'm wondering if I need to 1) replace it (dealer wants $180), 2) file the edges of the break so there's nothing sharp facing the belt, 3) use something like JB weld to fill it in 4) take it to a muffler shop and see if they can put a weld on it that I could then file down or 5) don't worry about it and just put it back together. My fear is that if I don't do anything then it could shred the belt eventually. I can see that there is rubber residue along the side so the belt does touch it. Any thoughts?
