Default Cd player shows error E-01

Ok, so I bought a 2000 civic EX last sunday, and the CD player isn't working. When you turn the car on, it makes the noise like its going to eject a CD, but it doesnt eject. After 30 seconds of doing this, it displays error E-01. In the manual is says this is a "mechanical error"... do you guys think its possibly repairable? Buying a new head unit isn't something I have money for right now. Thanks

It is always possible to repair, how easy will depend on the damage.

A jambed CD transport would give a E-01 error, you will need to open the HU up and possibly pull the pack assembly, [CD transport]
and look for "stuff" that shouldn't be there, like change, kid will use it as a piggy bank. 94

Haha the guy I bought the car from really trashed it... there's probably some junk in there. Thanks! I'm gonna go open it up now.
