06 SI w/Nav $15000
2006 SI with Nav.
60,000 miles
It was a certified used car and therefore has a 7 yr 100,000 warranty.
Is this a good deal? The clutch has already been serviced for the TSB. Car drives fun despite one SI owner here who claims the new SI's reliability is that of a Hyundai from 1988.

I don't go by any of those. I go by Edmunds true value, which I have checked, stands at ~$15.5. I usually go by a mid-level between private car sale value and the dealer retail value. But that doesnt mean that is the best price around. Trying to get a feel of what local markets are asking for in Cali mostly. I find people who use KBB are the ones who want to sell their car for as much as they can get it for and inflate it. Edmunds is very conservative, so I find if you can beat it, then you came out ahead pretty much.
Also, a website doesnt take into consideration that there is an extended warranty involved.
Besides, why bother to ask if I already am going to use the price from KBB or NADA?

1) Do you like the car and is the body in good shape (dents, scratches, etc)?
2) Does it pass carfax?
3) Does it pass mechanical inspection/e-test and certify
4) How are parts of the car that are subject to wear and tear like tires and brakes.

I would check it out again, and then go look at it again.. a lot of 06's had 3rd gear problem, so go test drive it again. Look for dents, carfax it, and look at tires. (Usually the dealer has to do stuff to it so it's a certified used honda) so see if they did anything

You ask if it's a good buy. If you find a civic like that for $30k you're a moron. If the value is within reasonable distance of the KBB and NADA then you're fine.
As an FYI most states use NADA values to tax you on when you register, not Edmunds.
You also don't mention if you've carfax'd it yet. It could have an accident. Which is why I brought THAT up.
And you don't mention if it's within your range. You shouldn't be stressing yourself to buy a new car if it will strain your wallet.

To all you guys preaching about carfax, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in one.
I wrecked the **** out of an S2000 (frame damage, airbags popped, etc) and it still showed as clean on a carfax. Just a heads up on that stuff.

Does it hurt to spend $20 on a Carfax when you're looking to spend $15,000? Certainly doesn't. It's just another layer of protection.
My steps usually are
1) personally inspect it
2) Carfax it
3) Check pricing
4) Dealer Pre-Purchase Inspection or my personal mechanic
If something slips through all that it's a damn good repair.

Muffinman: No offense but I thought I asked a simple enough question. It was to solicit advice on if this was a reasonable price. It doesnt matter if I have the money or not to buy one, does anyone want to pay more for something than it is worth or can get cheaper, all things being the same? To answer your question, yes I do have the money. But I'd be a fool to throw it around in this economy. Anyway, no hard feelings. I should have stated I already looked up pricing, that's just a no brainer. But I think I was clear in stating that I wanted to see what others here thought if the price was a great deal or not....because it sure seems like it, especially with the problems given this car and a 7 yr/100k mi warranty....which is still intact.
Everyone else: I appreciate the info, but I have bought over 5 used cars through the last 10 years. Yes I have checked it out, I use Autocheck (spent $30 and got the 2 month unlimited check) and like them more than Carfax. It seems to give more info and provides a better record search. The car is fine, it hasn't been in any accidents. It belongs to a friend of a friend, as a matter of fact. I heard they were selling it and have not told them I am interested in it yet. I just dont know what the going rate is because of all the issues the SI is having. Plus it's a first year model, which will break my rule of never buying a 1st year model....I usually buy the 3rd year just so most of the bugs are worked out.

Honestly not trying to be a douche. So I'm glad no hard feelings. People get easily hosed nowadays in regards to loans, shady used cars, etc.
If the price is a great deal to you then get it. Using NADA and KBB you get a zip code specific estimate on the pricing. If you come under those then yes you're getting a good deal. In your first post you mentioned nothing of what you had already taken steps wise so I hope you see where I'm coming from. It certainly seems like you have a good head on your shoulders and are not a 16 year old moron, which make plenty of posts like this and haven't thought anything through.
Assuming everything is in the clear (car wise) I'd say go for it.

[QUOTE=bobbybg11;39270633]I have one for-sale a 07 SI with 21,000 miles for $22,500 NEG.
here's a few pictures for you to look at its super clean Alot of Extras..

Are you serious? Nobody is going to throw a 22.5K for a used Civic, let alone it is 2 years old, which means the warranty on the car will be over in a year if you didn't purchase any extended warranty on it. It doesn't matter if your car looks nice, looks expensive or customize like the way you did. It will be hard to find any moron on this Earth to throw 22.5K on a used Civic when they can use that money for a damn good down payment to a brand new luxury car or even almost paying off a brand new Civil SI. In addition, who knows if you ever abuse the car consider it looks super strong.
My point is, you're overpricing your car. If you really want to sell your car, make it as stock as possible. Potential buyers looking for a sport car will mostly like it stock, not a Fast and Furious type of car. Next time, think before you putting so much money in a car that is what it is and even if you do, don't expect to get what you paid for it from the beginning.

That's why I said neg. Why send the money on a brand new one that's going to cost u over $21,000 and then do mods to it when u can get a car that only has 21,000 miles super clean has over $15,000 invested into it and u can still drive it everyday if someone is going to spend $15,000 on a car with 60,000 miles on it I think I would go with the car that I'm selling for an extra $5,000 do the math smart guy.
hay i'll part out the car back to stock and i'll sell it for $18,000 stock with some mods with it if you want....or completly stock...Don't forget my car only has 21,000 miles and it's almost 3 years old never been in any type of accident at all always garage kept...
