Questions on 1990 Civic
Looking at this 1990 Civic has 150k original miles. Has a little rust its spray painted black, he didnt tape it off so some windows are painted, needs exhaust and some other little things, My big worry is the motor, there was oil everywhere the block was covered, and its under the valve cover gasket to. Also the oil smelled like gas and he drove 20-25 minutesto meet me.
So heres my question I know its going to need new gaskets but why does oil smell like gas , and it was smoking when I lifted the hood would that be from the oil on the block or just burning?

not to sound mean. but I think you would be much happier and have a better experience if you had a mechanic or someone else who is more experience on engine performance (health wise) check it for you. Especially if you plan to drive the car with the current motor
It would be better then relying on someone's blessing on HT

Its cool, The guy didnt tell me it had a oil all over on the block before I went and seen it but Im still thining about buying it thats why I put a post on here to see if it could or would be anything major
if the shell is straight then get it. Clean title? if so then jump on that bish. If its got a full interior thats a plus also. You can always motor swap it. If I lived over there in Indiana I'd jump all over that.
Im from Iowa, but the bodys not bad its bommer canned black, and he didnt tape windows so the windows are kinda bad only two rust spots on the car though.. Has the 13 inch steelies and a clean title
