Prelude SH Vs Integra gsr
Yo guys my brother in law just got a prelude sh, and im also looking for a honda. right now, i'm either getting an 3rd generation integra gsr or a 5th generation prelude sh, maybe base if i can get it for a decent price. we both want to get into tracking our cars, and i was wondering how the cars compare handling wise? i would probably have to keep the car stock for a while, but in the future maybe mod the suspension. i'd love imput on what car you guys think handles better. I couldnt get much info searching because most of it is all just opinion, nobody really comes out with facts on handling.
good info, but that is only comparing the itr with the prelude. I cant afford the type r and if I could I would certainly go with that. i cant find any info on the gsr's handling
Stock, the SH is the easy handling winner, simply due to comparing an active power transfer diff to an open diff. On throttle oversteer FTMFW!
Modified, the Integra is the superior platform, purely in terms of handling capability, but only because it is lighter and only if a proper diff is installed.

SO how does the gsr compare to the base model prelude handling wise? And what would you need to do to the gsr to make it handle with the SH? Cuz I could do basic suspension as soon as I get the car.

You could make a GSR out handle an SH (lateral G loads), but it will never put down the power the same due to the nature of the SH system. Not everyone would want or need it to though.
I think, overall, its a moot point to discuss. They're both capable cars. The poor 'lude was penalized with both a heavier chassis and engine. Its got more torque and can fit larger tires though. I think they look better too. The Integra probably has more aftermarket support.
Pick your preference and enjoy. They're both great cars.
sticky tires (probably the most important)
quality coilover system
different swaybars... the list is endless.
