99 accord v6 vtec mod help!
opk well first thanks for even bothering to read. i have a 1999 accord v6 sedan and i want it quicker somewhere in the range where i can keep up with em1 and gsr's if any1 can give me suggestions that would be helpful i have a j30a and dont want 2 swap it thank you very much...
Well the best place to start would be to get the car running 100% in its stock form. So start off with a FULL tune-up. Then do your bpu's like cold air intake, full exhaust, grounding kit, etc. Maybe msd?
i was just reading in Honda Tuning magazine today about a guy asking for similar advice about V6 accord performance. the responce said most everything would need to be custom to really make progress towards the V6's full potential.
i agree that a good tune up and basic bolt-ons are the first step. if you're not satisfied (..and i don't suspect you will be trying to keep up with the cars you listed,) a custom built turbo setup may take care of that.
if you're a handy fabricator (and mildly wealthy...haha) a supercharger could be researched.. though i havn't heard of anything near a bolt on kit.
i know Odysseys and Pilots shared the same engine family but with more grunt. you could look into the possibility of swaping parts over from one of those... maybe intake manifold, i know those were different.
i'm very interested to see what you come up with! post some results when you have done some work to it.
Supercharger for the Accord is definitely worth the money. I remember back then, when the 01 Accord was new, they had S/C's for V6 Accords. I believe it was Comptech that made it.
I know header's could be less restrictive on the V6 Honda engines. Prob a good aftermarket one will do you good.
Maybe some lighter rims. Those stock V6 EX's look pretty heavy...

messing with the engagement point won't do squat. best bang for your $$ are
1. headers
2. CL-S cams
3. intake
4. axle back exhaust
you will have to notch the cams to get them to work with the distributor.
