Paint Shops other than Maaco
trying to get my integ painted with a budget no more than 1k. Maaco seemed like a good place to go but then i read reviews how it sucked. just wondering if anyone knows a good place near Boston, MA that does a good job and dont steal parts and most importantly LASTS!
You cant get a "good" paint job if you are paying someone to prep and paint for $1,000.00. Maaco doesnt do prep work for $hit, they use cheap paint and paint your car like its a timed event.
If you do all they prep work yourself and simply pay someone a grand to spray it you may get decent results for $1,000.00.
Spraying the paint is the easy part.

find a shop that has an apprentice and tell them the apprentice can learn on your car as long as it comes out ok, and you might get a better deal.
I went to Maaco one time and asked for the very best work and was told that I would get a new full paint job and get rid of all of the dings for like $2100.
Is that still a bad deal, even if it has the best paint + clear coat?

just my .02...not all maacos are the same...I've had 4 cars done by one paticular maaco and all the paint jobs came out as good as a factory job or better...
thats what i've heard. some are good and some are bad. i'm also in massachusetts and was considering going there. however, i'm on a wicked tight budget so i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with their cheapest service (it's like a few hundred dollars). i just want the same color and some extra body parts painted to match.

I still wouldn't take my car to Macco. Only time I'd even think of doing that is if my car was a beater, plus I wouldn't even want to work at Macco, cause to me, working at Macco is like working at McDonalds. You don't need to have experience to work at either place
I examined a lot of the work from the Maaco I visited, and it looked flawless. No overspray like many people claim, and this one was not owned by the franchise, rather independent owners. Maybe it does depend on who the owner is...
90% of the work is in the prep. Poor prep equals a poor paint job no matter who is spraying the paint.
The body shop doing my car has an easy 40-50 hrs in the prep and its gonna take the painter half a day to paint it.
Its a no brainer,

You have obviously never prepped a car for paint. Spraying the paint is by far the easy part.

i hear you bro , youll end up missing a front lip or someshit haha talking bout "you never had one" lmao . nosa
take pictures of everything you have... catalog parts if you think that they will take them....when you drop your car off talk to how ever is in charge and be like hey i got a list of my parts with pictures im gonna give you a copy of the list and im gonna keep the main list "in case" something comes up missing. Pictures of everything and clean the **** out of your car take everything out of your car before you drop it off. dont leave a dime in it or it will be gone....i fropped my grams car off at a shop with a few sockets that were left in the car and the vanished when i picked the car up.
Westtz can you PM me which Maaco it is in San Jose?
i work at maaco actually and some of the guys do good work....i would do all the prep work yourself and even tape it yourself so you dont worry about the overspray from the crappy taping the guys do
yeah if u go to maaco do all prep and taping yourself overspray is annoying.... where at in illinois are you... my buddy's dad owns a shop and his brother does an awesome job but i dont know how expensive they are
