Default Best HG for Raising Compression?

What's the best headgasket for raising compression? I'm looking to raise the compression as much as possible, motor is a jdm b16 with itr cams. Suggestions would be appreciated. This is for my beater just wanna get a little more pep out of it without doing anything to extensive.

get an oem gasket and pull the silver middle layer out of it. i have heard of guys just using the bottom layer and putting some copper spray on it, but im not sure if i would trust that. and come to think of it, it was chris whitfield who said that so...

i know Cometic does custom gaskets that are below the standard .030". in my opinion that would be your safest route.

I hate Cometic, mine has always leaked.

I would go with a OEM headgasket with the center section removed. Thats acually what I am going to do with my B16.

maybe there was a reason it leaked like improper torquing sequence or reusing stock head bolts.
just curious...... did you have your head or block resurfaced prior to your head gasket installation??

oh yeah... spoon and mugen also make a head gasket for raising the CR. but they're more expensive than oem. i personally never used a head gasket with a section removed (nor do i know anyone who has but i've heard of it being done) so i couldnt tell you not to do it. hopefully someone who has will speak up

Use the middle layer with copper spray. Been done and it works.

why not just buy a set of ctr pistons and raise the compression level the ol skool way? instead of dicking around with hg's, or removing material off the head? i know a guy that give's a hella good deal on the set of ctr pistons. shipping all over the U.S.!!??!?

^yes I know Rs machine sells ctr pistons for like $150. but as stated earlier I don't want to do anything extensive with this motor, I have a turbo car to dump all my money into. Thanx for all the suggestions so far guys. Using the oem gasket in such a way seems a little iffy, but it seems to work for a few, I'm gonna give cometic a call and see how much a custom one would run. If its more than I'm trying to spend I'll try the oem gasket.

if u dont care about the head or block just mill the **** out of 1 or both of them, that'll up comp. but if the hg blows, its over, can't really resurface it anymore, u'll have worthless head or block! to me not really worth it for such a small increase of comp! just a suggestion.

i believe that Toda also makes 3 different types of headgaskets (with different thickness) for the b-series if you're looking for another brand/option.

other than that, haven't seen any issues with people using the Mugen or Spoon HGs.
