Default Found a civic I'm interested in.

So a lot of you guys know i totalled my hatch but I came across a good cheap car my color for pretty cheap. The guy wants 900 for his 91 hatch and it has an ls swap.

But this is what he "says" it needs.

Needs valve adjustment.
No axles.
No stub axle.
Needs new IACV sensor.
Needs O2 sensor.
Wires need to be tucked and covered.

So now my questions are, wtf is a stub axle? And being that it needs a valve adjustment (i dont know how to do these, yet) I can't hear the motor start and run which kinda sketches me out.

What do you guys think would be a good idea? Heres the add for picture purposes and the stuff he has done to his car.

Could be a tarp if you can't test drive ect... Can someone on here estimate how much it would cost to do all those items? And then estimate what an LS swapped EF in good condition would be? That would tell you if its worth $900 or not. But I still would be skeptical, I would only buy cars I have seen, driven, and are in good condition with no mystery problems.

Being that it is ALREADY wired up for MPFI and LS motors are dime a dozen where I live at. I can pick up a long block for 400 at the most. But I do have a type R head sitting in my garage from when my brother went K series.

I do believe the shell itself is worth 900 alone, If I were to buy this car, would another 300 get this thing up and driving just fine? I know I'd have to buy DA axles which new they would be around 150 from autozone with a lifetime warrenty, the IACV I can get from a junkyard, and the o2 sensor I can get from a junkyard (I hope the plug where the o2 sensor hooks up is still intact)

What do you guys think?

Well if you know the shell is worth it, then get it! Its like not really gambling on that engine if you think the body alone is worth the money. Free engine that could be fixed into a running engine and fast too.

I'm thinking that because the axles are in 2 pieces on some cars he's thinking that they are on this which would be a stub axle in some peoples eyes. call him and ask him what he means.

he is talking about the half shaft, and for that price I would be skeptical, is it salvaged? I bought a sedan with an LS a while back for cheaper than that, and was PARTLY the worst decision I EVER made... I can almost guarantee that the car needs more than what he explained, and I bet he says it needs a valve adjustment because the engine knocks, and not because the valves are not adjusted properly. ALTHOUGH even with the stuff mentioned missing, the car should still be able to start, although it would run and idle shitty, he should be able to turn it on, IACV is not all that important to start a car as well the o2 if it's obd0. But I mean if you have the time, money, and knowledge, it could POSSIBLY be a good pickup. Also ask about the shift linkage/look at it yourself see if it was cut and welded or if he has a hasport one.

BTW HOW THE **** are you buying a hatch with that screen name... I feel stupid for giving info if you are buying a hatch... 4 doors for life!!!

If he is I wanna smack him lol. No just kidding, but really, I wanna know wtf it's going to take to get this thing on the road. I have like 1300 saved up since I totalled my hatch.

I was thinking about just asking him to sell me just the shell without the motor and trans but i got to thinkin that since it's already wired up for MPFI I can't just throw my d15 in there and call it good, but that just wont happen that easily lol. Now if he will let the shell go for 600 cash and I find my own ls motor? I think that'll be nice, as long as i get to keep the shift linkages :p

Who said i didn't have one I really don't lol. I just can't find any 4 doors around here that are in good condition for a reasonable amount. If I do find one in good condition they want 1500 and my left nut.

most of the bolt on parts should be fairly simple and you could do them yourself.

I'm just going to buy the first hatch i mentioned with the LS swap and offer the guy 600-700 without the motor and just transfer all the parts from that one to my old one.
