I was putting a new o ring on the distributor and the socket wrench slipped and hit the positive terminal then a airbox bolt and caused some sparks. Now when i try to start it just cranks but no fire. Also i noticed when i put the key to on position the tach moves to 250rpm before i even try to start it. ANy ideas?

 

Check for blown fuses. are you getting fuel and spark?

 

ya just checked number 1 plug and getting spark and fuel. Im still not understanding why that tach moves up to 250rpm and stays when the key is in the on position before i even try to start the car.

 

I got it going. I needed to rotate the distributor 360, had it aligned wrong when i put it back on. Still confused about that tach tho. thx tho
