Default Presidential Detailed: 2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S

This is one of my dream cars, the GT3 RS being my top dream car. This car was very well kept and had all the options including the ceramic composite brakes. Nothing short of an amazing car! Unfortunately a rotary was put into the wrong hands and let loose on this unfortunate 911 Turbo! There were crazy amounts of holograms and swirls in the paint, which needed to be removed ASAP.

The owner was nice enough to deliver the car clean. This is not how he generally leaves the car, but it had just rained and he knew I would be taking care of it.

I performed an ONR wash inside due to the extreme heat and direct sunlight.

I was amazed at how quickly these bird droppings etched into the paint and even more amazed that it was completely removed with little effort of the rotary.

Remember that other detailer? Here was his idea of a good job.

My test panel after SIP/PFW followed by M205/Orange.

50/50.

After SIP/PFW via rotary. Shows just how soft Porsche paint can be.

After M205/Orange via DA.

I was in a bit of a rush so I unfortunately did not get any during shots of the sides of the car, but trust me they were just as bad as the front. I did manage to get some shots of the rear of the car being completed.

The trunk portion was carefully taped off to ensure every panel was corrected.

Now for some final shots..after 2 coats of Blackfire Wet Diamon Paint Sealant.

Looks great as always!
How do you get the spots you cant get in with the rotary? Just by hand?

PC with 4" pad can help with tight areas; as PD knows you can use a smaller pad and plate on a rotary, but that can get hairy certain small areas. that little pad will be turning FAST!

hey PD, what's up with the bay? you have an actual location now, you sharing with a stereo installer or something? congrats either way.

Yeah, I have been sharing a space with a local shop here lately. It was a good deal, but we sort of both outgrew each other before we even realized it. I am looking for something more independent at the moment.

Agreed PC with the 4" pad is great. Lake County makes some nice pads in that size.

Yo PD, beautiful work.

What is the purpose of the Blackfire Wet Diamon Paint Sealant?

I'm getting ready to go for a mass detail on my AP1 S2K Berlina Black (not as bad as the one you did), the paint is in great condition but i just need to clean it up and go with a nice compound and get all the surface scratches out.

My list of product is almost ready to be ordered, but im down to the last things to order. Which all consists of the waxs and protectants to use for the paint.
I notice you recommend M105/Megs 8207 polishing pad KBM followed with M205/9207 Finishing Pad MPM (more recently). Would you suggest this?

After polishing you will need to protect all your hard work with a wax or sealant, or both. General rule of thumb is that sealant goes on before wax. You will definitely be on the right track with those products assuming you atleast have a DA polisher?

Is the DA polisher different from a buffer? im new to this detailing. And im also trying to learn and follow steps i have seen in your write ups....

Yes, a Da is a dual action orbital polisher which is different than a rotary polisher. If you have never used either I would recommend using the DA first, its a little more user friendly.

im new to the detailing as well, where is the best resource to purchase a DA?
and what do you recommend for a n00b?!
do you have like a "list" of recommendations to buy with the DA? I think im going to purchase one and i dont know what pads to get with it as well. maybe you could give me some reccs!?!?

also in ref to my earlier post PD, i understand the "sealent" being black diamond and being applied before the wax.
But what is the M105 & M205 purpose? (still new to detailing)
is one of these the 'wax'? i know the 105 deals with compounding, but am i wrong for thinking once you applied the 205 - thats it - the last step in the cleaning process?
