"Turbo/Chassis School" Review July 11-12 2009
Well, I just got back from school and let me tell you, for a first time teaching this class, Dan and Dave did a phenominal job. The amount of information that you get in just 2 days time is priceless....
Here is a quick rundown of what we covered. Keep in mind this is subject to change based on what you all bring to the table....
Day 1:
Turbo talk in general
Common terms and details on what they mean to you
Compressor wheel design and theory
Turbine wheel design and theory
Journal / ball bearing talk
Complete teardown of a journal bearing turbo
Complete reassemble of a journal bearing turbo
What to look for (good and bad characteristics)
Turbo sizing for your application
Flow and how to optimize it both pre and post turbo/IC
Data logging characteristics and what the info means
Day 2
Chassis basics
How to apply the power to the ground
How to read your tires
How to optimize your power
Future improvements for our class/chassis
What options we have for performance advantages in suspenions
How to tune your suspension
Looking at the car as a whole and treating it like a pro mod car (great info BTW!)
I'm sure I missed a bunch of stuff.... it gave us ALL so many ideas on how to optimize our current setups and what to do to take our cars to the next level. This class, to me, was invaluable. I feel as though it would be great for the community/sport and would highly recommend EVERYONE to attend.
Here are a few pics from the weekend....
Turbo talk

Teardown by Miller

EVERYONE got to disassemble/reassemble a turbo (great hands on experience).... Here is BigTom

An example of what a big shaft should not look like

More class talk (great participation by all)

Ehren and Dan setting up the sat Alabama style

Day 2 Turbo talk review (note Dano's shirt.... lol)

Dave the Chassis guru

Hit Dan up for more info.
I had a great weekend fella's. Thanks to NRG as well for hosting this class. There will be more in the future and I look forward to round 2.

I agree Chris! There is so much to learn from these guys, and the questions raised by others were great as one person only has so much capacity for questions lol
Dan and Dave know A LOT, and it was awesome to get their input and feedback. Thanks to Dan for taking the time to coordinate this and to help all of out, and thanks to Dave for taking time out of his schedule to help out as well!
I will be attending these in the future for sure

This class was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this to anybody who is considering it,this is not some everyday turbo seminar.Dan and Dave have years of experience in motorsports, they have the hands on knowledge to teach you.The information we learned this weekend is absolutely priceless,i would do this class 100x over. There is nothing you cant learn from these guys.Once again,THANK YOU Dan and Dave, you two did a phenominal job for being your first class.

I have been in contact with dan on hostin one down here in the south, hopefully we can both squeeze it into our schedules and get some of that good info on to some of us "southerners"

This class is a must for anyone in the instudry that has a passion for learning. Whether you have 2 years experience or 50, there is something you will take way from this class. i personally had the least going into this class but Dave and Dan broke everything down to very simple, understandable terms that I never skipped a beat. Awsome time, great oppurtunity. thanks again guys and to Miller and ther rest of the NRG tech crew for hosting the facility

had a great time!
The class was great along with the camaraderie the entire weekend with all involved. Dan and Dave were both great to work with and I cant wait to do it again in the future.
It definitely will be hard to top the group of people and the class in a whole in the future but we are working on setting up another class for the people that couldnt make it out this time.
