I just bought a new ITR tranny off ebay , It is in my car now and I love it. How can I tell if it is a usdm or jdm tranny? I searched and some people say jdm has no vin plate, Mine has no vin (it does have 2 holes near the engine code on the block but they are not threaded) just a stiker that says s80 and a barcode. It has LSD J4d stamped on case.

j4d LSD is the 96-97 jdm or all years usdm. it's the b16 gears with a 4:40 ring. also no way to tell if it's jdm or usdm. the unthreaded holes where the vin tag goes do let you know it's not OEM usdm. it's either a dealer replacement or jdm. either way it's likely lower mile than a tagged tranny.
