intake manifold blowing out air?

Default intake manifold blowing out air?

my manifold is blowing air out the intake manifold.... bent valve stem????

Why dont you pull the valve cover off, and see if a spring is floating around? Take pics while your at it.

If that was the case there would already be a hole in the piston.


I would remove the valve cover and see if any of the springs are noticeably shorter than the others. If not you'll have to measure with a cheap set of calipers or something from the bottom of a spring pocket to the top of the retainer. Any greatly different number on a spring is an indication of a bent valve stem.

Could also use a leak-down tester. If that checks good then something else is going on.

I've got money on either bent bent valve stem, cracked/chipped valve or an eccentric valve seat.


Was any head work recently done on this car? Did it just start acting up or has it always been this way?

heres pics of the springs and the ones on the 3rd cylinder are much lower than the others on the exhaust side

That's probably just the cam pushing them down. Sorry I didn't clearify. I meant to measure and whatnot with the rocker arms removed so the cam isn't pushing on the followers.

ahh i see well i did a compression test and i have 80psi in all my cyl except for cyl 2 it reads 145 which is what i need i guess new head or block now

woh, thats a BAD thing lol normally just 1 cylinder drops. not 3 of them. If only 1 is at 145 thats a bad thing. Subscribing so i can see what this turns into
