Default stage 1 clutch question

im installing a XTD "stage 1" clutch for a friend. the car is a 1994ish prelude with the h22. the new clutch disc is 3/8" smaller than the old factory clutch. the pressure plate is exactly same size.

everything is the same except outside diameter of the clutch.

i have done plenty of clutches and know what im doing.

the only thing i can think of is because its a "stage 1" it would have a smaller contact surface? or is it just a crappy clutch?

thanks.
