retrofitting a 2005 civic radio into a 1995 hatch.
retrofitting a 2005 civic radio in a 95 civic... first is this possible, second if so, how hard is it? theres a bid thats about to end and i wanted to win it. but was unsure if itll fit. any help will be apreciated.
Yes it's possible.
Wiring is as easy as getting the adapter harnesses, one that fits the 05 HU, [reverse harness] and the one that fits the stock radio plug in your car, [adapter harness].
Metra 71-1721 for the 05 HU.
Metra 70-1720 for the 95 radio plug.
Scosche HA08RB for the 05 HU.
Scosche HA02B for the 95 HU.
Mounting the HU will be a little more work but not too hard, these may help...
Installing HUs in 95 Civic...

and although this is for the 99-00 Civics, [last ones avalable] it is pretty much the same as the 05,http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/466005.pdf
just so you can see the diff. mounting systems used, the 05 is an "ISO" mount, [HU held in place with 4 screws through brackets into side of HU] your 95 uses a rear mount system, [HU held in place with 2 screws through bracket into lip on bottom/back of HU.
What you will need to do is fab up a bracket(s) from the 05 HU to the stock read support brace in your 95.
I have used JB weld to "glue" a "L" bracket to the back of newer stock HUs to go into older Honda/Acura. 94

2.Your going to waste your time and money. Probably to the point where it would have been cheaper to buy a decent $100 CD player $40 in parts. And you will get a life time installation warranty for free.
3. Aftermarket CD players have better sound quality.
I,m a professional installer of 5 years and I once thought the same as you. I had the learn the hard way. Maybe you will have to do the same.
