just built a turbo b18c, gone to start her up and it fires up but then cuts out, if you open the thottle it tries to rev but just cuts out..

any ideas?

any more specifics on the car. did you change injectors? whats done to the computer? What did u do to it, rebuild the engine or just put the turbo kit on?

 

ive rebuilt the engine, and fitted turbo setup, still running stock itr injectors/cams etc, only difference is low comp pistons and forged rods and turbo setup..

 

what type of engine management are you running? your not really feeding us info on your setup so we can help with your situation

If you are running stock cams, stock injectors, stock map sensor and stock ECU it should start up no problem.

I would double check your mechanical timing and make sure the cams line up with the crank.

Did you do a valve adjustment if the head was apart?

 

see if your sensors for tps/map are swapped around. since you just installed the motor.

you throwing any codes? try cranking the car for awhile.. not more then 15 seconds..then release the key like you would normally. key II position. gauge lights should still be on.. dotn turn the key back to key I position.

check the codes if any.

get the idea of turbo out of your head for a second... think basics.

is the fuel pump priming?

pull the plugs and check what color they are... wet is fouled out

etc...

 

Does it actually run then shut off or does it try to run but it keeps on missing? If it starts and runs for even 4 seconds then shuts of it is a tps/map problem or even IAC. Need more details. (ex: how long will it run for?, is it cranking but mis firing trying to start?)

right, its stock managment at the moment, so only difference being is it has a turbo and lower cr pistons. SO it should start as normal.

when you turn the key, it starts straight away, but as soon as it starts, it dies, its not missfiring when it does run though, so im thinking something like a sensor too..

right ive checked the TPS and MAP plugs and they are on the correct sensors.

ive pulled the plugs out and they are wet with fuel..

and i assume its sparking as it fires up on the key..

await your thoughts guys

 

ive just checked the cam pulleys and the timing is spot on, so no probs there..

i also tried doing a fault code check but the engine light just stays on, and not throwing any codes up..

 

also i dont know if its worth mentioning but when i removed the exhaust the wire snapped that goes to the sensor on the cat.. ( i assume this is just a heat sensor and doesnt effect the running of the car? )

 

right just been out the garage again, i got it started and held it idleing at 3k rpm but as soon as you let off it dies, anyways im now getting fault code 14 which is the IACV

 

thought id let you guys know ive been a complete GAY *** HOMO... turns out i mixed up the plugs on the idle control and knock sensor lol

anyhow she runs now so just gotta fabricate this 3" exhaust system tommorow and get the ectune on there
