A few general questions...
I am looking at turning my DX into an Si.
I found a 1989 Si... I have a 1989 DX. Swap the wiring harness, engine and tranny, reskin the roof... fuse boxes, resistor boxes, and done, right?

why? whats wrong with the si that you can't just swap good parts from your dx to it? Its more better that way. Unless you have the time and $$$$$$ to do it. Everything but the roof will be a direct swap over but the roof will be the bitch of it and it'd just be easyer to swap your good to the si. Then to mention the resell of a home built si will never be that great because the vin's will always read that its a dx unless you swap them which is highly illegal.
Unless your a great welder and body worker your gonna have a car that will not be strong at all. Its gonna take some work to swap roof skins and have the car be good and straight again. Swap over the whole harness and motor trans ect... Good luck.
There is very little lateral support on the skin of the roof. I don't see how it would make the car weak. Noting that he keeps the pillars in tact, and the front and rear windshields properly installed.

i would drill out the spot welds, and spot weld it back on.
buuuuut... the dx has an aftermarket sunroof... so it might be the same hole size if i am lucky... we will know in the coming 2 weeks.
