Icon2 **DESPERATE FOR HELP**

Just purchased a 1990 Honda Civic DX with a Z6 motor swap and a civic SI transmission, car had problems starting and idling but ran great. Last night however, took my friend on a ride in it and did heavy acceleration on an on-ramp, and all of a sudden, tried pushing in the gas pedal and got no response, RPM's kept dropping so i down shifted from 4th to 3rd, engine responded to the down shift, but once again no gas pedal response, got to a complete stop and car died. It tried turning over but wouldnt catch. Could this be a timing belt issue, spark plugs, or fuel pump issue? Im desperate for help, anyone have an idea?

timing could of skipped, sounds similar to my brothers problem in his prelude but its automatic, he said the pedal wouldnt work so he quickly pulled over but he was freaking out too much to know if the car died or if it turned off when he pulled the key out. the car didnt start it skipped 60 degrees of timing and bent a valve and cylinder 3

Easy way is to swap it with a known good unit. I would set the crank to TDC and check your physical timing aswell.

sounds like timing belt either broke or it jumped time.

put your tounge on a spark plug wire and if it shocks you its good kinda of like a nine volt battery, na jk you could take the coil to auto zone or just have a friend crank it and hold the #1 spark plug wire to a bolt and see if youve got spark

or just take off the timing cover and make sure the belt didnt break. my rexy did that and that belt didnt pay, it just ripped in half, no jumpin time for her.

sounds like it was off though before, due to the hard start issue. just check the timing, its easy enough to do.

So after spending an afternoon working on my car, I found that timing belt was in okay shape and distributor worked just fine. However I did find that my fuse for the ECU (15 amp fuse) and my battery fuse (60 amp fuse) were blown. I want to fire it up and make sure it works, but i messed up like the idiot that i am. I dont remember which spark plug wire goes to which port on the distributor. Anybody help me out? its a 1990 Civic DX body with a Z6 motor swap.
