converting dimmer switch from 88/89 style to the 90-91?

converting dimmer switch from 88/89 style to the 90-91?
has any one done it? i know i know n00bish question but i didn't find anything in the search about just swapping the switches. i looked at both helms (an 88 one and a 91 helms) and it looks like the dimmer controll unit is built into the switch on the 88 style one but not on the 90-91 style?? can some one varify this? does any one know whice wires go where? thanks a bunch!!
