Default power problem=[

so i have subs in my car that my brother installed, that used to be a direct problem. my car wouldnt start because i believe he didnt hook it up right. i took my car for a free testing on the alternator and battery. the guy said i have a bad alternator and my battery was just not charged enough. so i find out that its not that i have a bad alternator, its just that i had the wrong one in -.- so i replace with the right alternator, and now i can barely push start my car. the subs are unplugged and everything. i charged battery for about 20 minutes and it started up, but it still only last a few minutes. im 90% sure its somthing to do with the installed alternator because i was losing power as i drove. any suggestions?

Where are you getting these alternators?

What were the results of the test? Battery voltage only? Was the alternator putting out any voltage?

Did you check the alternator fuse in the under-dash fuse box?

well i got the wrong alternator at first from O'rillies (dono how to spell) the alternator was the same 1 that was already in the car,(the wrong one) i got the right alternator from excel auto parts.

the guy that tested my car said the battery was fine but uncharged. needed to get a new alternator though. pretty much the alternator didnt fit the brackets on my car. the new 1 does. i dont know the battery voltage or what to look for in a fuse. im noob to cars and trying to learn. if you could explain i would be happy to look

a neighbor told me about a test if you want to check if you alternator is working fine..
and is starting the car and disconnect the battery and if the car still running your alternator is fine
and i think your new alternator is bad... you need to replace again

the voltage when your alternator is working s/b 14V or 14.5v approx..(is when your car is started)
and the voltage when your car is off s/b 12V or 12.5 approx.

the alternator is bad.. is not charging.. you are using only the battery power for turn on and stay on for some minutes..

Again, check the alternator fuse in the under-dash fuse box.

i checked the fuses, from what i can see all of them are still good. not sure on the exact fuse number for the alternator, i think someone told me 15. but its good. i see that there are two wires coming from the alternator, both attaching in some way, then combining in the end. i see one goes 1 way, and the other is going to a plug thats not connected. my step-dad(mechanic) told his friend not to worry about that wire when installing it. and i dont know where it could or would hook up to. im trying to find an installation how to or where the wires go, but i dont know. il try and get a pic of it up

the red is where is the wires connected at the alternator,
the green is the mysterious plug
the teal is where the wires meet up and go into a strange t type connection. im not sure if anything is connected in there or was it just taped to be out of the way.

nah, this is a replaced alternator. if its messed up again. that would be crazy. i've charged the battery just to have it die again.
