Hey I just bought a Fram PCV valve, oil filter, and air filter. I heard they are okay what do you HT members think about Fram parts?

They'll work just fine, but personally I pay a few $$ more for better parts. If you cut open a fram oil filter versus almost any other brand (purolator, wix, mobil1 etc), you'll see that the fram is made much more cheaply. Major internal parts are cardboard rather than metal.

Don't have a link right now, but there are several writeups on the internet where people have cut open lots of different oil filters and compared them internally. The one consistent judgement of every one that I've read is that Fram is junk.

According to this website, the Fram Tough Guard oil filter is okay.

I've been using Fram on all my cars since I started changing my own oil back when I was 16y/o. I'm 54 y/o now.

I got a PCV valve that wasn't OEM once and it sucked. Now I stick to OEM on parts like that.

fram PCV is okay to use, proff if sitting in my intake manifold, ready tpo be used when I finally tyhrow my motor back in the car. change or inspect every 15k miles if it isnt OEM. OEM ones are better, but like I said, the fram ones do work.

fram oil filters are okay to use IF you have a stock car. once you start building a motor for boost or high revving, stick to an OEM s2000 oil filter. larger capacity, and maintains good oil pressure.

I would reserve fram for only summer driving, as I have had 3 or 4 burst the filter element on cold winter days. and that was using synthetic 5w 30 oil. I may have simply been unlucky and gotten 3-4 shitty ones in a row.

do your car a favor and stick to OEM parts though, enjoy the better construction and more durabale parts

okay, since I already bought the FRAM pcv valve, I think i'm going to use it for about 15k? then I'll go OEM. as for the fram filters, never ever again.

Wix is a good filter too. Sold at NAPA and other traditional parts stores that aren't "big box" stores.
