Hey guys I have a delema. my car is a 1992 4 dour honda civic dx.

i want to know if i could get more money out of selling my car whole or parting it out.

It has the following:
15" GSR wheels with shity tread
d15b2 block with a d16z6 head and intake
a 4-2-1 header with 2" exhaust with a 3.5" tip
cheap coilovers
94-97 2 dr integra dash w/o air bag tray and with integra gauge cluster
Tenzo steering wheel
2dr integra seats
94-97 integra rear disc brakes
94-97 rear sway bar and front strut bar.
stock headlights and taillights
2 dr front bumper
engine bay was recently painted blue
the car has total of about 3 small dents
and im working on the drivers quarter panel. it was smacked pretty hard by the previuos owner. and have it mostly fixed. the exterior color right now is primer pink and gray.
front window is cracked. umm
interior is many gray but door panels and roof is tan.
it is manual windows and locks.
no electrical problems. it does burn rich and i cant figure the reason why
new timing belt with an aem trutime cam gear. with a new water pump. new front brakes and soon new rear brakes.
new clutch and master cylinders.
basically new clutch plate. short shifter.
the dizzy is the standard d15 dizzy so i had to modify it a little to fit it. getting ready to replace with the d16 dizzy. just replaced the head gasket. clean title. the front door panels were cut to fit the dash but im waiting for more money so i can custom fit the 4 dr panels with the 2 dr integra ones. no srs stuff. like none at all removed the sensors and all. it runs well other than it burns rich and i cant get it to pass smog. (hydrocarbons are way up)
and i believe thats all. i was thinking on getting a 2 dr but i wanted to know if i could get more money parting it or selling it whole?

Depends on how much your selling it for. I think more people would just buy parts off it. Than buy it whole. Do you have pics of it.

 

i dont really know thats why i was asking i want to get as much out of it as i can ya know. i've had this car for 2 years and when im 18 and making 500 a month and like 60 bucks after bills its all that i have been able to do on my own.

 

anybody else have any ideas?????? just tryin to keep it going

 

Pics would help. Also how many miles are on it? Check auto trader to see what other 94 4dr's are going for.

 

ah ill try to post some pics tomarrow or somethin if i have the time. as far as miles wise i really dont know the block came out of a 89 i do believe so im going to guess probably 200k at a high round. and why a 94 4dr when its a 92?

 

Oh sorry I thought you said 94 =P Honestly with that many miles and the year of the car your not gonna get too much for it by selling it. Mabey 2-3K

 

from my personal experiences parting out offers the most money usually, but then again idk who would want to build up a rolling 4 door shell, you know... might get stuck with it. im not bashing u, just offering advice.

 

lol no offense thats why i started this topic as far as the sheel goes i could sell to a crusher after all that ive had this car for 2 almost 3 years and i just got it fully running here last february it is dependable and all that fun stuff i just feel its gunna take more work and money than its worth and id rather start clean and new.

 

id say part it out. get the money for the parts then just take it to the yard and get what you can

 

I understand. It has to be a pain to spend all that time and money.

yeah thanks guys for the feed back the car is a long way from being done. and trying to find black interior for a 4 dr civic is virtually impossible if not impossible. and to fix the cut out door panels i have to custom make them with integra ones. if i had the money i would probably buy a 95 hatch or a 95 del sol or even a 2000 s2k thats the dream car lol and i want to paint the jams and all that fun stuff and that takes at least 3 to 4 days total to repaint a car lol its just got a long way to go, thats why i wanted to sell and start over

 

del sol's are so sexy IMO and they are pretty rare too, I never see them where I live compaired to the EG/EK ratio.

same here and when i do see one its soooo riced out...

 

I dunno why I like the del sol so much, it just sticks out when you see it. Also I love that targa top its so cool.

 

lol yeah i really like the del sols but they are just as expensive as a newer civic these days. although the rarest car i dont think you will ever see in the us is the awd civic its totally asome and its right hand drive with a b16 in it stock its awsome but itll cost the car and shipping sosts from holland or some place like that lol

 

del sol's are cheap man see em on auto trader for under $5k all the time with decent mileage too.

 

sweet when i get the cash ill get that thing and the best part is. i can do alot with the 95 delsol cause they are the same floor pan as the civic to an extent and i could do alot with a delsol. id just have to make sure i kept the sunroof drains clean lol
