If you are not wanting to boost then I would recommend a swap. NA D-series engines just don't make much power and the money you would spend on bolt-ons would simply be a waste.

they hear the turbo,ticket,
if i get a B16 engine that would be sufficient enough right?
OP if you are determined not to do a swap then do the usual....bolt-ons.
If you don't know the usual bolt-ons than search.... It's been covered MANY times...

if you dont want to do a turbo charged then go with a supercharged it has the same concept but it doesnt have the turbo lag and you cant tell from listening to it and it will feel like a n/a and depending on the supercharger it wont give you a lot of power but enough to equal out what you want. my buddy did one in his ex civic and it was nice.
bolt-ons don't really give any noticeable hp gains, they just make the car sound better, but i think i'll just start with the engine swap, it seems more reasonable and in the long run more cheaper,
thanks
yeah b is good but i heard passing smog there is a b!tch with the b18 swaps. thats why i suggested the supercharger. cause i have felt the change in those things and its pretty good.
well at least with the swap it won't be noticeable, but with the boost they hear it they stop you and specially the suburb i live in the cops stop you for anything, stupid california bs laws they have here, you can't even have a damn muffler than louder than 90decibels, i live in a suburb of Los Angeles
3g's, damn thats alot; well yea for everything your gonna need to convert. but for like a stack u could boost the D, i mean its in there already...
and fu*k to police, N/A 1.8 will be pretty loud. u could get a black intercooler and silent blow off valve...

well the way you cheat the smog test is to drive for hours and then go to the smog test because the cat is trapping more&more of the Co2, but i have options right now i just want to spend less than 10g's though cause i want to buy myself an evo 10 later on
but im really just aiming for NA but if's not possible then i might end up buying a turbo kit, i really only want around 200hp though
look up jackson racing, they make a sc kit. and 200hp N/A on a B will still be hard, with just bolt ons. FI on the D will be like 225hp stock motor...
ya dude i own 98 ex d16y8 and i am planning on swapping to a b18c and just doing the basics such as cams, valves, springs, and retainers and other basic bolt ons
but im going to look around for the jackson racing sc,
yea, look around and study up, and internals will bump up hp a good bit: good stage 2 n/a cam, adjustable cam gear, maybe some good n/a pistons with the type r intake manifold and exhaust...
either way ull spend a lot of $ to put down good numbers on a B. u could get the sc along with injectors and a tune for way cheaper, on the D...
