i came from an '02 LX and i love my 2008 Si.

double the power, practically the same gas mileage (33 with the LX compaired to 31 in the Si), it actually was made with sporty handling and driving in mind, sun roof, the list goes on. it really depends on what car you're coming from.

what car are you replacing?

i don't care what model you get, a civic is still a civic and it won't compair to the luxury of a 300, or any new audi.

you do get an excellent bang for your buck with an Si though, cause the "civic" name keeps the price from sky rocketing, and you get an awesome motor with some nice features that really make it surpass any expectations you've had with a stock 'vic.

those are kinda in a different class than the civic.

what exactly are you looking for? if you want luxury, then id go with audi/benz

the new si's are great fun little cars that are not overly expensive and provide great gas milage without sacrificing too much power

Seriously, no disrespect or anything but why are you asking people whom you do not know for advice on what car YOU should buy?

A large majority of people on this forum drive an FG or an FA most being an Si and will tell you to get the same.

Make up your own mind and buy what YOU want.

My opinion: Buy a used LX coupe or sedan, do typical bolt on's and buy a used 92-00 Civic or 90-01 Integra and do a K swap project.

If you cant make up your own mind I think you should buy a YUGO.

Why would he want two shitty cars when he can have one decent one?

He's asking what NEW car he should buy. Also, all the labor and parts that go in to doing a K-swap, why don't you just buy an SI? It's not really worth it if you don't do your own labor.

A 92-00 Honda is a shitty car? I will take a K swapped EG/EK in cherry condition over ANY FA/FG anyday. The part's bin is deeper and cheaper, the suspensions are far superior and you will NEVER, EVER get the power to weight ratio of an EG/EK in a FA/FG, NEVER!

The reason I suggested what I did is the fact that it's not very wise to modify a daily driver, especially when you rely on this vehicle for income. Modified Honda's draws attention from law enforcement and theives. WHen you have a daily driver modified in the manner I suggested it not too high profile and you dont have to worry about parking it for extended periods of time.

When you want to have fun and a project that will yeild much better results the K swapped car is ideal.

You can find deals all the time and there have been plenty of super clean K swapped cars in pristine or restored condition for $13-15k. If one found a clean older civic you could get a K swap and all the bolt on goodies, kpro, tuning, AC, power steering for $16k easy.

I'm not sure what your point is. You tell him to go out and modify a used LX sedan, and then purchase a 92-00 Honda and throw a K-swap into it, but then claim, "it's not very wise to modify a daily driver".

A K-swapped EG/EK is MUCH more attractive to thieves and law enforcement than a newer vehicle that is stock. Not to mention, it is much more easily stolen than newer vehicles.

I said buy a used LX and do tyipcal bolton's, intake, cat back, wheels, tires and drop springs. These things won't cause any hiccups at the dealership should a warranty claim arise. I suggested used because it would save a lot of money and an LX offers some power amenities versus picking up a DX.

The K swap was in addition to the LX, not in place of. Perhaps I should have been clearer on that. This car is inteneded as a weekend car or as the insurance industry would classify it, "for pleasure," much like the guys who take out their AC Cobras and 67 GT500's. I'd never daily drive a vehicle like this for the reason we both pointed out.

Most people that turn their daily driver into their hobby modify it well beyond what I mentioned above and drive it far more aggressively as well. Things tend to happen when these things occur and then they try to submit a warranty claim and when the dealer denies them they come on here crying about.

I only learned my lesson on the 3rd time I turned my daily driver into my hobby. It IS NOT worth it.

In the end you guys will do what you want, never mind my advice I'm only a 34 year old who has been there and done that.

I'd love an s2000 or 350z..but they are quite a lot more money!

In case you were thinking of a used one, in which case I would still rather have an 09 si as opposed to an 06/07 350z. Theres just something about buying a car with under 15 miles on it.

i would have got a used one.

I've bought two new cars from the dealer, once in 05 and then the SI in 07....never again will i do that. the depreciation blows my mind.

used cars from here on out.

Well in Ontario the 07s are running around 22k right now, and it depends on the deal you get on a brand new one, but thats around 2-4.5k off MSRP.

Its really just the taxes/other fees that get you, but I've found that Honda's have a high resale value so I'm not all that bothered. Also if you buy it new you can maintain it very well and make sure you have no problems down the road do to a someone beating the hell out of the car/maintaining it poorly.

Personal decision I suppose!
