Default tach and distributor problem

I recently changed my cap.and since I've changed it my tach doesn't want to work. My engine is dpfi and the cap was from a mpfi. Does it matter? The look similar. But the outside has differences? Anybody know? Thanx

Does the blue wire going to your distributor have any breaks in it?

Just look at the connector on the dizzy and see if anything happens. Is the car running correctly other than the tach not working?

It might effect it. Check the Fuse under the hood make sure it wasnt blown, then if all else fails iv seen that replacing the whole underhood fusebox gets rid of the ELD code.

Why did you replace the cap in the first place?
Re-install the original cap, and see if it makes a difference.
