100+ hp setup question
Hello, my name is Austen and im trying to inquiry about a setup I can run that is either Forced Induction be that Turbo charged or Super charged, or a NA seup that produces 100 hp at least, that would work for my 07 Civic Si sedan, that is mostly street legal for use in California or only has easy parts to remove and replace for smog purposes. Wanting to know if any have inisight on this subject or if this setup even exsits? Ive looked into at least 4 different turbos some of those being the AJP, SRT which i know are not california legal now Ive also looked into the Greddy turbo which was my original choice which is only 25% hp increase and now that Hondata FlashPro has been released im sure that this number can be increased along with the bolt-ons I have I/H/E. I know they reccomend the Random Technology High-Flow Catalytic Converter and that would be easy enough to just throw on my stock cat for smog purposes. Now my question is, is this the closest setup im going to find that is smog legal that will give me close to that 100hp increase. Since greddy claims their turbo gets 254 at the flywheel so Im going to guess this may give bout 20ish less to the wheels so maybe 234 and with the additional FlashPro hoping it will get me closer to 300hp along with the Greddy EASY performance camshafts. Now I'm still learning about all of this so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Ive also looked into the CT-Engineering SC but a rep only told me that the Hondata FlashPro only goes with the stage 2 setup which is not california legal. Which I'm not exactally sure what I would need to do come smog time, to make sure it would pass smog if I were to get the ct-sc with the flashpro. please if anyone has any info on this subject or advice on a possible route that I can go to get the HP increase im looking.
Okay thank you all for your input into my issue, looks like its gong to be one of those two options, thanks on name comment!

Okay to not continue to confuse anyone anymore im not worried about smog legal anymore due to the fact that I learned new information and feel dumb for not researching it in the first place I was under the impresion that I was going to need to smog my vechicle every 2 years but then learned about the smog abatement fee for vechilces 6 years or younger as of 2005. So yah merh my bad for not researching the issue but thanks to all who gave input into this dilema.

You want to make 100hp more to the wheels NA and remain California legal? Removable parts or not it's not going to happen.
Better go with the CT Supercharger or the Greddy kit and tune with flash pro.
Your name is pretty creative.

you could get the stage 2 with the smallest pulley Comptech Supercharger and tune with flash pro and will be at 300 whp maybe a few ponies less or more give or take. If you already have I/H/E then you will definatly be over 300whp.
You can use the flashpro with the stage 1 ct kit. Flashpro just comes with a base map only for the stage 2 kit. Find a tuner that knows how to work with hondata equipment. If you live out in riverside check out bizimoto in ontario. As far as smog goes, ct stage 1 kit is carb legal and with i/h/e and flashpro you can still get maybe a range of 250-280 whp. If the check engine light doesnt come on then you should be still ok smog wise.
Your not going to get 100+ WHP and still be street legal in CA. The cat is going to limit your tuning options. You can gain 60 to 75 with forced induction, but anything more will mean losing the cat. It is just too restrictive. Even if you keep your cat, changing injectors to increase your fuel to gain the A/F ratio you will need to run forced induction, at a PSI greater then 8psi, will throw you out of smog.
I took mine to it's limit with the cat, Comptech SC and Comptech Header, CAI & Evo II Exhaust. The best I was able get was 260 WHP. Car has been at Dynospot Racing for 3 months now being converted to a Drag/Show car so it is off the street, for good.

OP: with the greddy turbo kit, you're going to have to get rid of your intake and header.
as it replaced by intercooler piping and the turbo manifold and the down pipe

Okay then new question, If I were to go with the Ct-sc stage 2 with flashpro what happens when somg time comes around? do I have it removed and put back to stock to pass smog then reinstalled?
Im not so worried about maintaining smog legall all the time just wondering how one goes about passing smog when it comes time to get your car smogged every 2 years I believe. okay I was just talking to my girlfriend who works at a car dealership and she was saying the vechicle has to be a certain age before it needs to be smogged? if this is true oes anyone know what the age is?
Okay well i just googled the topic and it says as of 2005 cars 6 years or less do not require a smog since the pay and annual abatement fee, so I feel dumb now Ive been under the impression that I was going to need a smog test every 2 years and this was affecting my decision on what kind of setup I could ge tbut now that the sky is the limit at least for the next 4 years im all good.. now its back to the drawing board.

buy the stage 1 so you get the exemption order decal, then buy the stage 2 upgrade. You don't really have to buy a stage 2 upgrade thru CT considering flashpro is out. You can change the pully yourself with a custom unit and get a custom sized belt, a water injection kit and tune with flash pro. The Exemption order decal and the flash pro are your keys to passing CARB and the bootie sniffer.
Yeah well since leanring about the smog law, im pretty much back looking at the ct stage 2 with the reflash and sum cams/gears, or the SRT civic turbo or teh AJP turbo again, just those last to are around 7-8k. So its gunna be more of a money situation and prolly slowly starting to buy the parts over time so when im ready ill just have to pay for the turbo it self then install and tuning. but thanks too all who have offfered there input here~!

No cat and a 70mm or 3" exhaust will help evacuate heat away from the turbo and motor.
And why would more than 8 psi throw you out for smog? If you are tuned properly at idle and part throttle, forced induction cars run just as clean an N/A cars. Emission tests are not done at wide open throttle.
I run over 8 psi and leave both of my o2 sensors enabled and do not get check engine lights.
basically the greddy kit will get you there.... stay away from the EASY cams tho.
the greddy kit stock boosts around 6psi. you can put that up to 8/9 and get damn close to the numbers you want alone, just need bigger injectors and flashpro will definitely help too.
as far as ct goes. you need stage 2.... most definitely the 3.15in pulley. the injectors and flash pro with a race header, good intake and decent exhaust 70mm+ that'll yield you around 300whp. which is what im going after.

Depends on what ststae you are in. In Arizona they put OBD1 vehicle on a roller dyno and simulate different driving scenarios, wide open throttle is done, just not in a gear where the vehicle would accelerate the most.
Damn they go through all that in Arizona! How much do you pay for an inspection there?

Well I believe after all my research that I have done and with costs in mind granted if I had the 8k for the AJP I would definately be going with that for my 07 Civic Si, but since I do I Believe I am going to be getting the Comptech Stage 2 , with the Skunk 2 Megapower header and sum cams/gears.
Thank you all for ur input!
Best luck to all in there dreams and may yours come true as Im hoping mine will in the near future!

Stage 2 includes a different pully to spin the SC faster and fuel injectors. For the money they charge I'd order a stage 1 CT kit with Flashpro so you get the CARB EO sticker and order an aftermerkt pulley from somewhere else along with RC engineering injectors. To top it off I'd get the water injection kit from AEM and get a RPM window switch so I can run it full time above 3000 RPM's. With the flashpro you can have your full tune, the you can have a emissions tune.
What is the best deal going on flashpro currently? I can pick one up for $595 with no strings attatched.
I'd definitely be ordering my upgrades from somewhere else!!!!!!

hey wait a minute, i thought AZ didnt have smog regulations?!?!?!!?
Honestly I don't know what smog is except the crap you see floating over LA, Phoenix, Atlanta and NYC.
Arizona does have emissions testing, every 2 years in fact. Vehicles 1996 and newer get hooked up to a OBD scanner and visual check of a cat and vehicles 1995 and older get put on a roller dyno where a clerk operates your vehicle with a road simulator program and it tests several different parameters like loads, MPH, operation in different gears and various RPMS.
And emissions test is about $27 and there are no 3rd party testers.

Kk thanks for the info KidNKorner, I was planning on ordering the Stage1 first and then just buying the upgraded 3.15" pully that is the Stage 2 plus along with how you said getting the water injector and a belt and order the flash pro seperate so I could keep the warranty on the SC. unless im missing some item someone please correct me.
Panda you will want more down the road, remember that. There is a quote on the AJP site that says I like the S/C but I wish I would have saved a little more and got the turbo.
And water injection is more complicated and is just another thing to go wrong and if it does it can be really bad. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thougt water injection was for when you up the boost to stop detonation and pre-ignition? So if it does fail, it would be at the worst possible time, when you are at higher boost levels
