pass smog with ctr pistons and itr cams???
ok i got a 1993 civic hatchback with a barred b16a3 i want to know if i put in ctr pistons and itr cams i can still pass smog? its inside the motor so they wont know it from the outside. just want to know if anyone have done this to their b16's and still pass smog. im concern because the ctr pistons will raise the compression that will maybe make me fail.
the one i posted before was itr cams with p30 pistons not the ctr pistons. haha funny about the 2 cats!!! isnt that illegal? haha
i told u my boy passed with his b16 with CTR piston... them cams might throw off the high HC tho, never know until you do it... got an idea
go to a smog station and say u want to run your car on manual mode or a PRE-TEST to see if it will pass... no cert require or dmv papers

here's my setup that passed the sniffer.
94 gsr w/ os usdm itr pistons, endyn head, itr cams, s2 im, ls ex manifold and a oem gsr cat. my hc were only like 5 ppm over avg and i had no nox, non @ all. compression is in the 11/11.5:1 range. hope this helps. btw get a stock cat, don't waste money else where.

I don't think there is much, if any, difference in the non-vtec profiles for OEM type R or non type R camshafts. Check some of the specs from the b series page of the crower catalog:

Also, for cats you should be fine with a CARB approved cat, that's why they CARB approve them in the first place. Carsound (Magnaflow) make some. Just avoid the hi flow non-CARB'ed cats.
If you can, try retarding the ignition timing as low as the owners manual allows. If you are chipped you can play with the HC and NOx numbers based on how rich or lean your air fuel ratio is.
