possibly getting a 2000 acura tl non type-s
What they said! x1000!!! Make sure you can't even feel the slightest tremble in that trans. When it goes your looking at atleast $3k, more if you go to the dealer. We prob do 2-3 99-03 TL transmissions a week at my dealership, I'm actually the one that bill them out in parts, so I know. Not to scare you away from getting it, if that's what you really want. Just really pay attention to the shifting, normally between 1st-2nd and reverse.
It's funny because "grenades" is a term we use quite often here in our shop.

Couple of suggestions if you're still intent on buying one.
1. CarFax/Autocheck report.
2. Check out the service records (if any)
3. Have your mechanic check the car out.
3. The tranny might still have a warranty on it.
I bought my low mileage 39K, excellent condition CL-S about 3 months ago and the original owner had complete service records, transmission warranty to 130K miles and no accidents.
