you can just unplug it and ditch it, it will not harm anything and will not throw any lights or anything like that.

I'm confused... You said it didn't have the engine bay components for cruise. But since you are wire tucking the engine bay you found the "brain". The only cruise control component is pictured below:

It will have a steel cable (sort of like a throttle cable) going to the gas pedal. This is the "brain" as you call it. You wont have any issues junking it as mentioned above.

What confuses me is you said the cruise was removed from the engine bay by the previous owner. Is what you see in the image what you are talking about? If not please post a pic of what you are looking to throw away so you don't junk anything important.

BTW, I'm down in SD, Miramar area so if you ever need a hand with anything intensive give me a shout.

Cool, cool. From 2001 to 2004 I sold Hondas and later went to Acura before joining the Corps. But don't look at me as some salesman who just knows about features as my buddies and I did TONS of builds and some pretty funky **** at times since sometime in late 1999. I'm actually on my 5th EJ1 build and honestly I just love getting my hands dirty, as long as the car has an H!

Its seriously an addiction. Our government computers thankfully don't block H-T so working nights this is pretty much what I do.
