Default Will i be ok with standard injectors? b18c4 with t28 turbo low boost

hi everyone,

i cant find the answer im looking for, everyone here seems to change their injectors when adding a turbo onto a b18 engine, is it necessary?

im only going to be running low boost, does anyone know what power the standard injectors from a b18 can run? will i be ok with about 5psi, which will maybe be arround 210bhp?

Here is a photo of my engine, i just cant afford expensive injectors at the moment,

thank you
james

you cannot run stock injectors on boost unless you use an FMU and inline fuel pump. not a good way to supply fuel to your boosted setup. honestly if you cant afford all the parts then dont boost the car yet. wait until you have more money so you can do it right and not hurt the engine

Yup. I'm also on a tight budget and putting together my turbo kit. I talk to many techs and people who have boosted their cars. I was thinking of doing exactly what you did. Running low boost and to just get the turbo in then worry about the "little" parts later. Every single person said, you need to do it right or don't do it yet.

Haha. Yea, they're a good brand. =/

"Here are a set of 450cc injectors pulled from a perfectly running 1st gen turbo DSM"

Many people have run them without issues.

You should be fine with 5lbs of boost as long as you have an FMU and a walbro pump or something similar.

thats a good first step, now what eninge management do you plan on controlling those 440's with? also it would be a good time to add a walbro in-tank fuel pump

I bought a honda Ecu with s300 and boost hardware on it:

I dont really have any experience about tuning, so im hoping to download a good base map and work it out from there.

The engines actually going in my classic mini:

Here is the honda i stripped for the engine:

Its nearly in, it will look much different when finished! It was just a 1.3 turbo before with a T3 turbo on it, so next it should be much faster with the 1.8 honda engine in there

I got my turbo manifolds from Spoolinperformance theyre beautiful!

hey everyone,

sorry for digging up and old thread, but im working on my wiring at the moment and cant get the injectors to fit into my connectors. The little tab on the plastic plugs seems to be on the wrong side,

does anyone know if you need to mod the connectors in order to fit uprated injectors?

i bought my injectors from spoolinperformance and he said that my injectors are:

"lucas factory direct
same stuff RC and innovative sells"

please let me know if there is a mod to get them to fit so that i can get it running this is the last piece to do now

thanks
james

Snip the tab out of the injector with a pair of side cutters or a razor blade.

Hey thats great ok ill use a dremel and cut off the small tabs,

i just recieved this reply from spoolinperformance "440's do not need resistor boxes. the ones i have are saturated." so i wont need a resistor box
