d16a6-dA6y8 SWAP
We recently purchased an 89 CRX SI with a blown motor as our next project car and have found a donar 98 with a D16Y8 motor. The car will be primarily for my son and will be street driven as well as a DE car. I am an instructor for DE's and pretty competative in my class and my car, an 88 Vette, but my son will be a noob or green studant. My question is this: If and when we decide to enter TT with this car, will the engine swap move us out of the stock class, and if so, what class would we be in? We run primarily with NASA-SE and clubs that subscribe to the SCCA classing format. I have quickly read through the rules, but am not familiar enough with Hondas to know the answer to this question. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and help.
According the the specs I read the DA engine will only net you 2 more hp than the Z6.
I dont see how it could reclassify your car?
But im not a expert in that arena. You should email the local sanctioning body you run in and see what they say.
Better to get it straight from the horses mouth.
