what year?

Is there any way to tell what year an R motor came from, like trans code or anything. Its most definetley a USDM C5 but i am curious what year? thanks

i am puzzled by your query. if it is USDM there should be a VIN tag on the back of the block down by the oil pan.

sorry if it is confusing i have a J4d trans and am curious wha year of R they made those trans, or are they all J4D, trying to learn as much as i can

If there is a VIN on the tranny, plug that into carfax and the year should come up.

If it's a usdm motor b18c1 or b18C5.
it's goes by the first digit of the serial #.
1 = 94
2 = 95
3 = 96
4 = 97
5 = 98
6 = 99
7 = 00
8 = 01
0 = DOT replacement block
