Stop Light doesn't work Honda Accord 2000 EX 4 cyl.
I recently noticed that my stop light (break light) does not work when I stop my car. The stop light on my window works however. One of the tail lights is only a few months old. The signal lights and all the other lights seem to work fine. I called the Honda Dealership and they told me it is either bad bulbs, stop light switch or an electrical problem. I don't believe its a bad bulb because both of the lights went out and one of the lights is new. I'm thinking that it might be an electrical problem. I did have to replace my ECU earlier in the year. What is your take? Does anyone know a shop in Southern Brooklyn, NY that will check this out and fix it with little to know cost?
To clear up some terms since your statement is quite confusing.
stop light/break light = brake light(s)
stop light switch = brake light switch
stop light on my windows = third brake light
The brake light switch most likely is not the issue if your third brake light is working. You should be able to visually inspect the two bulbs as they are dual filament, if one filament is out then you have your issue.
If they turn on when your parking lights or headlights are on then you *should* be getting power back there when you apply the brakes too. The easiest way to check would be to pull a multimeter on it and see if you get a voltage across the two terminals (+ and -) for the second filament.
Assuming the bulbs are good I would wager you're not getting power back there, which is probably a relay issue. Have you double checked fuses as well as a precaution?
Any competent shop should be able to help trouble shoot. Worst case is you get a Honda dealer to trouble shoot it and fix the issue yourself.

I doubt it's the bulb as I told you one of the tail lights is only a few months old. Both stop lights won't go on. Not just the new one or the old one.
It won't matter if you changed the tail light last week or if it's the stock one, what matters is the bulb inside.
The bulb has 2 little filaments inside, if one is broken.. there you go, replace the bulb. The bulb can light up when your lights are on, but it may not work when you hit the brake since one of the filaments is done.
You need to open your trunk, remove the inner cover, and remove the bulb and check it.

You have officially spent more time arguing it's not the bulbs than it would've been to just check them.
They could have blown 1 day apart, do you honestly check every light every time you drive?
