Quick question: Which header should I get OBX, megan racing, SRS? under 200 budget.
I need to get a header real quick, and my budget is only under 200$. I made a hole with a wrench in my oem collector I believe, hooked up to DC sports while trying to get a goddamn bolt off. I only have a budget of <200$ for a header and I need o get one asap. Which should I go with, OBX, SRS, or megan racing. Anyone?
You can get a cheap quick header on ebay. OBX is an ebay company. They won't hold up as long as other headers but if its a quick cheap type of thing...I don't know about the other ones. I've heard the megan racing header is pretty good.

i loved my megan header. i used it for a little under a year and it still looked new. i just sold it for 50 bucks a week ago only because i am going turbo.
ok, so megan is decent/good, and I also found ERZ header similar price, anyone using those?
Just found a thread on megan header, looks like I'll be getting it. People seem to have positive opinions about this particular header.
thanks!

Never tried those but one that doesn't rust so stay away for Pacesetter if they still make headers for Hondas.
I've had my Megan racing header for about 2 years now and it still doesn't have any cracks on it. I just had to replace the gaskets and that's about it. I also had a cheap one off ebay and the welds cracked in about 6 months.
Hedman Chikara PowerPlus headers are the best bang for your buck for any mild street d series. Narrower stepped headers are going to benefit you better then any wider non stepped header is. Unless you have a balanced assembly/beefed up valvetrain where you can run to 9k, your not goin to benefit from 90% of these headers out there which are all about producing top power, which in a stock config you might barely be tapping into that power for 200-400 rpm only...
Do you really want to give up your low-mid range pull for more power in the upper 400rpm?
Edit: Didnt notice the Jackson Racing Super Charger... Forced induction setups dont need to worry about gas velocity. A a wider 4-1 header will do you justice....

Any good/decent 4-1 header for under 200$, you could recommend?
Im not sure on headers under 200... Im not familiar with any of the megan racing obx etc, i can only judge by the technical details. I have no info regarding quality of the work etc.
What i would do is some research on the headers you have listed and pick the one with the wider diameter tubing, as all these headers are going to be designed for street n/a cars, so your biggest problem is that the header is not goin to be free flowing enough, as you just need to get the gas out of the cylinder and not worry about scavenging to improve ve....

Can you take a look at this OBX 4-1 header,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
this would probably work better, but it only for the B-series engines..

and thanks for the response/s
I've read somwhere before, that 4-1 header is better when going with a supercharger.

Well a 4-1 header has a much stronger "pulse" when it hits the collector, but they are much more critical to tuning because rpm and cam timing play such a big role in tuning length. The pulse is stronger because each runner gets more a long runner to build up inertia, but changing cams and adjusting power delivery requires a new 4-1 header, 4-2-1 is much more forgiving with tuning mistakes.
Either way, the biggest prob with a higher average pressure then atmosphere present in a forced induction system is exhaust restriction. We dont care too much about scavenging because the positive pressure is overcoming the vacuum produced by intake/exhaust scavenging.
The obx is hard to judge just by pictures. The info we need is the primary diameter, length, and in this case the collector diameter and length. Based from the pictures it looks to be decent as the primaries are rather short, i think for what your looking for and price range they should do the job.
You will just have to realize you will never have the most efficient header for your application, which is the case with any packaged bolt on.. ie.. Stage 2 cams(LOL), Skunk2 IM, etc.... If you want a high quality build the only way to do is is get out the paper and do the math and get **** fabbed.

thanks again!
I'm having the car tuned very soon, with larger inj., fuel pump, and chipped ecu. Looks like I'll be getting the obx one, since I can't find anything else in the price range. thanks again.
I think the collector on the obx for sohc is the stock 2" or 2.25". The one for the B-series has 2.5".
I see.
This is just so I get the car back on the road. I'm trying to relieve the DD duties of my WRX which has over 150k miles. The civic only has 135k miles being a 12 year old car. Not looking for anything serious, just a good/reliable dd.
