1990 Civic Si Brakes/Suspension HELP
I have been doing so much research on big brake swaps and suspension for this car its ridiculous. There is a lot of awesome information here but there is only 1 problem, stickys and threads dont talk back lol. The question i had was what brakes would fit onto my 1990 civic si hatch that will be somewhat bolt on and wont limit my suspension options. I read into alot about the ex knuckles but those are hard to come by and if i switch out the front knuckles wouldnt that mean i would have to buy a suspension that corresponds with those knuckles? I have been searchin forums for weeks and honda tech seemed the friendliest and most informative, please help me haha. All in all I just want big brakes and a beefy suspension, what road do i take
with the da front brakes do i still have to switch out the upper and lower control arms and the steering knuckles and hubs?? do all the bolt in?? and what would i have to do for the rear brakes if they are off of a da
usually when you do a da front brake you use the whole knuckle which would include the hub. only thing is that when you use the da knuckle, it's longer then your stock civic knuckle, so you won't be able to drop it as far as you would with a civic knuckle.
on another note, what are your plans for the car? would better help us help you.
In the future i plan to autocross it. Im not doing anything motor wise. I just want some solid brakes and suspension. I have done soo much research but it hasnt done any good for me
then here's a tip from a seasoned autocrosser... you don't need the big brake upgrade.
just refresh everthing and you'll be set. like new or reman'd calipers, steel braided brake lines, and a really good set of brake pads. like some hawk hp+. for rotors, cheap autozone rotors will do fine for what you are doing. the rear, do the same. i know you are thinking about doing the rear disc swap but it's not really worth it for weight savings. for peace of mind and not being a pain in the *** to replace pads, then do it for that. plus, drums are lighter then rear discs.
now this all leads to a more serious question. What class do you want to run in? The events that you are going to be running in, do they follow SCCA regulations? SCCA Classing?
you should look up what class you want to fall into before you decide to do the suspension. look up the class rules and regulations and build the car up to that.

For the rears, again use your stock arms.
I used the front DA knuckles, but I used the DC brake components up front.
For the rears I managed to get my hands on CRX Si rear disc brakes.

Well I guess you can say that, I got the DA knuckles because I could not use the DC knuckles on the CRX. So I swapped all the DC parts over onto the DA knuckles to make it work.
