Changed tranny.... now laggy?
i recently switched out my tranny on my dohc zc with a different tranny. everything went well but when i drive my car, it is kinda boggy... like.. in first its pully at high rpms then when i hit 2nd it drops to like 1k rpm and is groggy from then on. i have a new throwout bearing on it too. so what could be the problem? it used to have good throttle response with my old tranny..
What did you get? An HF tranny? Just kidding. But post up what tranny you installed so we can help.
^Funny sig. johnnyonth3spot, I just happen to know him lol that was a funny day.

well my old tranny said L3 and a bunch a numbers, and my tranny now says L3 and a different set of numbers. When I shift its fine, but, the gears seem a lot longer. In 2nd gear im driving 40mph at like 2k rpm O.o ... its kinda weird, 1st gear is kinda ok, 2nd gear and on starts off at 1k rpm or below, so the gears last longer. ill try and post a video later.
you probably have somethin like a dx tranny. the zc trans you had is very similar to the si tranny, and both have shorter gears due to the higher 4.25 final drive. the dx trans has the same gears but a 3.88 fd. it makes a big difference. so basically without putting a zc or si tranny back in there, your car is going to feel and be a good bit slower.
Well i would change it back out, thats for sure! DX tranny's where alright in DPFI systems, but in MPFI systems, it was very laggy, like 4 speeds on a MPFI, worthless, but GREAT MPG's, thats for sure!
