Default Bought a used car, alarm doesn't work?

I recently bought a 95 Miata and it came with a Viper Key fob. (RPN471T)

The light on the remote wasn't lighting up when pressed so I replaced it and now the remote lights up but the alarm doesn't work.

There is an LED on the dash which I assume is for the alarm, but that doesn't light up either. The alarm has a siren under the hood, but I've never heard it make a sound.

Is there anything I have to do to "activate" it? Or do you think the previous owner just disabled it because it was annoying?

More than likely it's disconnected. Only way to check is to pull off some panels and check the wires running up to the receiver. There should also be a brain box more than likely somewhere on the drivers side either behind the kick panel or above where your pedals are behind that panel. Best thing to do is take it to an installer (car audio store ptobably) or if u can take care of it on your own get the installation manual an check to see if everything us connected correctly.
