anyways. can i make a keyless remote from a 01-05 civic work inside a 96-00?

and what will i need?

im doing massive rennovations on my ej8. and i'd like to get the remote from an 01-05 keyless to work on my car, so i can upgrade my key to a switchblade key.

with that said. i want to know, what will it take? do i need anything? and if i do, what do i need to get to make it work? pls, i'd appreciate it. thanx.

 

You will need the/a remote control the key-less entry module from the 01-05 Civic and the power door lock control module from the 01-05 Civic, [if it is a separate module]. 94

will i need to hit up a honda dealership and ask them to set it up to work? i just want to make sure i buy the right things and for the right prices. thanx for letting me know though.

 

The harasses will not match up, the R/F section, [part that receives the signal from the remote control] in the 96-98 Civic is in the stock radio, in the "01-05" it is either part of the power door lock control module or it is a separate unit, but not in the stock radio.

Does your "96-00" have power door locks now? 94

 

This is going to be a fun one. First how are you goint to use the key with older car. As far as I know the key cylinder from the 01-05 will not fit into the older one.

Second. There is going to be pia to wire up the door locks and the new brain. On the 01-05 the brain is seprate from the door lock control unit. So you will need to wire in both.

Third. All this work and you are gaining no security what so ever. I will look at the skims and see whats involed.

my car is a 96 ex coupe. when i rewire... do the colors match up atleast? the keys look similar. but i was planning to go with my old keys anyways. but any help would be great. thanx.

 

So why not just install an alarm, get some security and a 2wire connection for key-less entry off alarm remote. 94
