Default 97 Accord OEM Stereo CD changer plug pinout

I have been looking all over for the pinouts for the cd changer plug on my OEM stereo tape player in my 97 Accord. I looked in my Hanes manual, but they don’t include any stereo information on this car. I want to build a harness for a 3.5mm female input that I plan to mount in the center console. I know there are a couple of companies that are selling adapters for this sort of thing, but they want way too much for them. I could make my own for next to nothing if I could just identify the pins on the back of the OEM head unit.

Thanks!

You do know that you will have to build a load into your adapter so the stock HU recognizes there is something plugged into the CD changer port so when you switch to it, it will "turn on" the input. 94

No, I didn't know that I would have to build a load into my adapter. I have found the pinouts: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/sound_system.htm
I was pretty sure I would have to at least jumper some of the pins in the connector. I already tried just connecting the R, L, and Ground of the 3.5mm connector and yes; the HU didn't recognize that it had a CD changer connected to it. So, what do I need to do to get the HU to recognize that it has a CD changer connected? I’ve been looking all over for the answer to this question. I’ve found plenty of others with the same question, but no answers. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to do it!

Try a small load on the acc, [pin 7] a small 12V light bulb should work, if you have a 12V test light try it, pretty sure an LED will not work, [no enough load]. 94

I am not an electrical expert (so please correct me if I’m wrong), but wouldn’t a resistor accomplish the same thing? If so, what size resistor should I use? I should place the load between pin 7(Acc) and pin 8 (GND)? Thanks

Not sure if a resistor, [by itself] would work, there would be an issue with heat, a bulb would dissipate most of that as light, pretty sure a resistor would just get hot.

You could try it, find a bulb that works, measure it's resistance, replace with resistor of that size, see if resistor heats up past acceptable level, pretty sure it will, and as heat builds so does resistance, increasing heat which builds up more resistance, and so on and so on. 94

I put a 4.5 kohm resistor between pin 7(Acc) and pin 8 (GND). I hooked my player up to the mini plug I wired into pins 2, 4, and 5. The HU wouldn’t change to CD when I repeatedly pushed the AM/CD button. I also tried putting the resistor between pin 1 (BUS) and pin 3 (BUS GND). Also, no luck. I tested a little incandescent bulb I had, it had 1 ohm of resistance. Maybe I have too large of a load? I am hesitant to put a bulb in there because I would have to periodically replace it. Also, the companies that build these adapters don’t use bulbs…what do they us?

You should not have plugged anything in the the BUS and BUS GND, although a damaged CD changer control circuit would not be a problem, as you do not need it.

Test for power on the acc. pin, [pin 7], make sure you have not blown that circuit by installing a resistor to it and ground, that's why I suggested a bulb or 12V test light, [proper load].94
