Basically my crank pulley got loose and ate away at the key that's in there.

I was able to get the key out after removing the pulley that the timing belt connects to.

not sure if the key normally slides out but i got it out this way

 

yes, the key just slides into the groove, then the pulley goes on it.

 

you should check to see if the crank pully shakes around when u put a new key in there.. i seen one recently that was totally ruined.. needed a new pulley since the other one was completely warped..

 

where did you find a new key i need one myself
