is a 6 point roll cage illegal in california?
I'm not trying to be argumentative here Targa250, but could you explain why (for that specific kind of 6pt.) to me it seems pretty safe to run even in a street car (granted that it's designed for safety on the track) I just simply don't see anyone smashing their head on that particular design.
-the windshield bar is close to the windshield (i know for a fact that my head doesnt get near the top of the windshield in any event)
-the side one along the window seems pretty high too, in the event of side impact i don't think it'll hit either..
-in the event of a roll-over, well you could either have your head smash into the bar and risk dying or just have your skull vs. 3000lb. s2k right?
i don't know i just don't see it

Well, there's a mindset for most people that roll cages are "dangerous" in a street car. I'm getting a 6point put into my Miata and the bars are placed well away from me and my passenger (the seats are mounted to the floor, bars are close to the windscreen and hardtop, sidebars protrude into the doorskins). I'm also putting in aluminum racing seats and 5 point harnesses for both seats.
Anyways, in my opinion, if the bars are far away from your head and body and you're secure in the car, then there shouldn't be a problem with the cage and dying because of hitting your head =P The car will be one of the safest cars on the road

i wouldnt think they would be illegal they do noithing for performance, but your going to get pulled over ALOT, but if you car is all legal who the hell cares right.
but i would get one, just put pads on the bars by your head and stuff.

im going to get the comptech supercharger (= and that wont be a problem because im going to run stock headers and exhaust, i know i should get it but i rather have boost and stay legal!
Isnt this thread about how that roll cage kinda sucks and is pointless? Why are you talking about superchargers? put headers and exhaust if youre gonna get the supercharger!
i would like too but i would like to keep it on the safe side, maybe the apexi ws2, but i would like to hear the two together
i never got pulled over and i have the 6pt safety21 cage like the one pictured... i didnt drive the car often tho. depending how low u sit ull be fine. but i would recomend picking up some harness' if you havent already. also.. its not safe to run a harness without a cage.. they go hand in hand.
if you dont know why.. then you dont need to install either.. but google it if u really need to know. there are safety threads all over the internet.

if safety is your priority for installing a roll cage, then you started off on the wrong foot. the Cusco roll cage is a "Style" roll bar and is not design optimally for safety. it will not pass tech inspection in any sanction races. there are many posts that discus on this subject.
you should also use a harness if you have a roll cage. the stock seatbelt will stretch a lot during an impact.
if your main concern is safety, then all you need is a Dard Dog is better suited. a lot off people who track their s2k uses this bar or a custom bar.
