Cam gears or no?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord with I/H/E. I will never turbo my a1 motor or swap it out. I am doing very basic things to my engine (a6 cam, H23 IM, and a6 ecu). My question is, if I use the a6 cam, and ecu would it benefit me any to add cam gears to the engine?
theres no real point into getting adjustable cam gears unless your doing an extensive build or getting a chipped ECU for a tune. all they do is move around your power band. just like turning your dizzy. not much help can be gotten from them unless your upwards of 190hp+
plus on SOHC its not help either. on DOHC motors like the H22 or H23a, its more beneficial because you can tune the exhaust AND the intake cams seprately.

a few reasons for needing adjustable cam gears:
-you've milled the head a lot and now you can't get it in time..
-you have a cam regrind or "big" cam and you have to degree it
-you feel they look cool and you have lots of money to blow
the cam gear in itself is not a "power adder," it's a tool to further tune the car when other things have been done like forced induction or high compression. the A6 cam likely won't be enough to necessitate a cam gear. but, like i said if you really like the look, and you have $150 burning a hole in your pocket it can't hurt... as long as you don't adjust it blind! get it tuned

i partially agree. on a generally stock-internals motor, yes. but when you really start changing things around, it doesn't matter how many cams you have, you need to be able to adjust them.
