hey guys i got a canadian model 97 four door sedan ex trim which basically means its a non vtec.

i am planning on putting in a f20b dohc vtec motor into it using my stock tranny


does anyone have a how to on the vtec wiring? since i am using my stock harness back and also what ecu should i use? the f20b one or the stock one off my car or a p28 etc???

sry i dont know too much about accords i am an itr guy.

any and all help would b much appreciated. thanks

 

btw i have searched but couldnt come up with anything definative.

one guy said use a p13 ecu one guy said use a p28 and one guy said use a p28 ecu chipped with a f20b map

 

Well, the ECU could be a P13 or P28, could be other ones too, because they all would need to be chipped and tuned according to your motor, in this case, the F20B. I bought a chipped p28 with a custom map to work with my f22b1, but car only ran properly after a dyno tuned it.
When you're searching for your new ECU, you have to make sure that is chipped and has the vtec in there. Once you get the motor installed, the vtec solenoid will have a plug attached to it with 2 wires, say one is green and the other one is just black. Well, the black one is your ground, the other one you will wire directly to your ECU, be sure to solder so it stays nice and safe. Also, with the swap, you should now be using a "jumper harness", which is what is going to connect your OBD2 harness of the vehicle to the OBD1 ecu...it looks like this:

 

what if ur car is obd2 already? i am planning on swapping the f22b1 from my 97 accord wagon to a F20B dohc vtec. do u still need the jumper for vtec even tho you have vtec already and a vtec ECU?

 

Another wagon, cool, mine is 91, F20B installed already, what a riot. VTEC stuff should be on harness if wagon was EX, if you have the stuff, plug it in, it will work, only have to do jumper stuff on LX/CX etc.
