Default 304 AND 316 on mani?

Are there any issues that would arise with using a (sch10) 316 collector, and the rest of the manifold (sch10) 304 weld els? If not, simply use 309 filler and rock n roll?

thanks
Matt

I don't think so, but I'm not certain. I know I've seen a ton of manifolds out there with mild flanges and 304 collectors/weld els/tube.

I think you'll be alright with the different alloys. The one thing I would be concerned with is the sch 10 collector. I'll be honest and say my personal manifold cracked at the turbine flange. The runners held up great, it was just the collector that had to be welded and braced. It's too thin. Just my experience.

Use 316 filler on the 308 to 316 welds and 309 on the carbon to 308 welds and you will be fine. Why use the more expensive 316 anyway?

sch10 will be fine as long as it's welded properly.

I have never seen a properly welded sch 10 collector crack ever.

Use 347 rod. Will give you a much stronger weld.
