Default Help! very very slow acceleration

I have an auto '90 accord. My problem is that the car is very slow off the line.
( It is equivalent to starting out in 3rd gear in a manual car. )
If I shift down to 1 and gas it, it feels fine. When I shift back to D4, it's slow again. It seems as though it's staying in 1 gear throughout the process. Another problem is the green s light stays on, even if I depress the button. The light stays solid, it never flashes. Are these problems related??

the green light is for the sport button and shouldn't be on all the time

but most auto's will take a second to get going, just because you're low in the rev range...i doubt there's something wrong with it...except that light shouldn't be on...lol

yes, its a torque converter. its basically the clutch for an automatic.

I know the accord is slow but it's abnormally slow. The car is stuck in 1 gear. Like I said before, when i shift down to 1 it moves but when I put it back in D4, it's noticeably slower. I'm pretty sure there's a tranny problem. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before and the cause.

As for the green s light, it is stuck on. It won't shut off even when the button is depressed

If the car was stuck in 1st gear, it woudnt be slow off the line, it just wouldnt go past 40mph.

Stuck on one gear, like overdrive, not stuck in first gear.

a lot of times an automatic will have sluggish acceleration because the tranny fluid is low. that's the first thing i'd check.

1st of all. It's a 90 accord! It's not a Viper!
Actually, the Viper is one of THE WORST cars for 0-60 I saw one at the track yesterday go up against a Neon, and the Neon absolutely destroyed it off the line. The viper ended up winning but man, that was the funniest thing i've seen in a while...

i always thought 4s to 60 and a 12.2 1/4 was fast for the viper when the neon is in the 6 s range to 60 so the neon had to have nawwwss and a turbo to keep up or the guy in the viper must be the worst driver ever

I give it a month and he will be going to a tranny shop and paying $2000.00 for a new tranny.

did you know that Vipers are essentially a prodcution kit car?

the whole car get shimmed togther because it is cheaper than spending the money to properly dial in the tooling that produces the body panels. crazy stuff.

so once you wreck a Viper its worthless. Next time you see one take a good look at the lines and seams.

edit: spelling
