Stock sub in type-s...
Ok so i'm mainly talking about the plug that connects the stock sub in the trunk and the wiring harness in the trunk... A friend of mine says that you can un-plug the stock sub and buy a plug/adapter and use that to hook right up to a new sub. Does anyone have this set-up or know if this even exists? I'm not looking for anything crazy I basically want to use my stock amp and the stock headunit and still get alittle more bass. Let me know! Thanks -
you could find a plug, or just cut it and extend the wires to plug into a sub. the only problem is that the power being supplied to that sub, which is roughly an 8in. woofer, is that the power level is really low, and u risk damaging the stock bose amplifier and/or the aftermarket sub. the best thing to do is to purchase a line output converter, tap that off of the sub speaker wires. this will convert the signal into a set of rca outputs. then u can purchase an amplifier, run the necessary power, and then u can safely have a subwoofer with its own dedicated amp. it'll sound great, and u can use the bass control on your stock deck as a subwoofer gain control.
that's true, changing everything out would give u the best possible sound. what sucks though, is that the amp that controls the sub also does the mid's and high's in the car. a good system is gonna set u back some, but it's worth it
