Default D16y8 header on D16a6

Decided to swap out my stock manifold for a y8 header I had lying around, but I need a bit of info.

Where can I get an O2 sensor wire extension on the cheap? Nowhere local sells them, and I would rather not splice the wiring myself.

If that doesn't work out, has anyone ever spliced and extended their wiring? If so, what gauge wire did you use?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I've extended O2 wiring often, and if memory serves, I used 14 gauge wire. I guess if you wanted to make it reversible, go to the junk yard and cut the 2 stock connectors off, splice in enough wire between them to make your extension and plug it in.

I could've swore that I had seen them there before, too. No dice when I searched, though.

Absolutely great idea. But unfortunately our cars are very rare in junkyards in my neck of the woods. Very few imports for some reason.

Yep. It's cool to not have worries when modding my ride(s), but the drawback is dealing with the hillbillies that leave clouds of smoke for miles behind them with people coughing and flowers wilting as they pass.

We have these too...There's a rule around here that if you have a full-size black turbo diesel truck, you have to have copious rolling plumes of smoke from two tail pipes or smokestacks. IDK, if my truck did that I would think it was broken and fix it.

I've extended wires for my sensors before... as long as you use the same gauge wire, solder, and heat shrink, it works perfect every time.

why do you want to extend the O2 sensor wire? the y8 manifold has the O2 close to the front of the engine. and if you have an aftermarket header where the sensor is back near the cat, the stock wire WILL reach over the transmission and plug right in. i did that with my Z6 header. no problem, its just long enough.

Seriously?

I guess I need to get under the car and try it. Thanks for the info.

It worked!

I had to remove some of the loom because the O2 sensor plug is loomed together with a few other wires to various whatnots. But it plugs in right around the side of the starter.

Beautiful. Thanks Tyson!
