91 accord AT problem
Hey guys, i've been driving my 1991 Accord Lx since high school and it has been a great car to me for the past 7 or so years. In the past year or so it developed a slip in the auto transmission when it would shift from 2nd to 3rd and in the past two weeks that slipping got worse and also started slipping between 3rd and 4th. The end result is that while driving home the car wouldn't shift out of 2nd into third and basically was feeling like it had a burnt out clutch if it had been a manual trans. When it downshifted back down to 1st after slowing down for some nasty dips by my house it wouldnt even move, the engine revs up but like i said previously the trans is not putting any power to the wheels basically the way i can describe it is that it feels like if it were a manual trans with a completely slipped clutch. I got the car home and after letting it sit a while it engaged into reverse and was able to move it and went into first for a little before it started slipping again and not producing any movement forward or back. I have hardly any knowledge on an automatic tranny so if anyone knows what is going on here that would be great as I dont want to do any work on it until i have direction as to what went wrong. Thanks so much for any information you can give.
oh and just so you know i ran the diagnostic on it and although the check engine light was not on it threw 2 cel codes 15 and 17 as well as tcm trouble codes 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 15. I checked the TCM and it has no blown capacitors or resitors so i am thinking it is probably a mechanical problem? maybe the internal pump on the transmission isnt producing and pressure? or there is a clutch system that went out on it? I am really lost here with this. I have been hearing a whining / whirring sound from the transmission side of the engine, ive been hearing it for a while now since it started slipping, which might be an indication of something...i dunno... thing that sucks is i was about to sell my car then this happens... so frustrating. Thanks again for any help.
wow.. nothing.. well i think it may be the clutch bands so im prolly gonna get a junkyard tranny and put it in so i can get this car sold...
