Default Pioneer or Alpine

I am trying to decide between a Pioneer head unit or an Alpine head unit. now i have used pioneer since owning a car 4 years ago, but have been looking into Alpine head units because i have heard good things about them. i have heard good things about pioneer too. so anyone recommend one over the other for any reason? Pioneer or Alpine and why?

This is the Pioneer headunit.

And this is the Alpine.

Thanks in advance.

I have always been a pioneer fan, never had one fail, had one last even through accidentally leaving my del sol roof off during a rain.

my only alpine that I owned, was friggin LOUD with an amp setup. unforntuantly I didnt ever have a speaker amp instlaled along side my pioneers. botha re excellent brands

look at the details to get an idea. HD radio is becoming the new thing for radio swtuff. the pioneer can do it WITH AN adapter, the alpine has the ability stock.

pioneers are notorious for being able to fine tune the equalizer settings to perfection. you have to know what you are doing to make it work though

in my opinion, both would be great cd players to use.

I do know, pioneer used the same wire harness for several year. I had a 2001 model pioneer that I sold to a friend. he blew his from ebing foolish working on the wiring. the new pioneer deck I bought was 2007 model, plugged right in.

I will say this though, when you use high power speakers without an amp, the alpine decks tend to deal with it a bit more. If you have a 4 channel speaker amp for your speakers, Id jsut go with whichever deck is cheaper.

hope this helps

Hey I installed a DEH-P700BT recently along with the Pioneer 15eq. I found I had more control over sound with the built in head unit 3band eq than the 15 band eq. I run just the head unit and it sounds great, love the bt phone feature. Im sure that the newer p7100bt model is just as great.

i have always had pioneer......i have had this unit for 5 years http://www.revo-sys.com/DD/DD%20imag...mier%20BIG.jpg

not my actual pic but this model. one thing is i have always gone with the premier line from pioneer, better warranty, etc. only issues i have had are the face plate is just now gving me **** with the gearing and some pixels have died but for 5 years i cant really complain.

i have always debated pioneer vs alpine but in the end i always went with pioneer premier.

you cant really go wrong with either deck, they are both great.
but in my opinon id go alpine, i have the cda 9884 and love it, had a pioneer before and didnt really like it,

go to a store that sells them and play with them and see which one you like.

I personally find pioneer to be better than alpine. I got complaints from friends and friends of friends that their H/u ain't working right, and then they switch to Pioneer and they never complain.

ALSO, Pioneer usually has a higher H/u output. For example, my Pioneer head unit puts out 50watts max where as Alpine in the same price range only puts out 35watts.

BUT, your 2 choices both put out 50watts a peice. I think it comes down to which you like ascetically better since they both have the same power functions.

power is something you dont need to look at. I can find a cdplayer throwing 12 wats rms and sound better then one throwing 22rms out. its all in the circuitry

pioneer and alpine are considered by many "top brands that are equal" so technically, 50 watts rms compared to 35 is better.

no. PEAK POWER DOESNT MEAN **** you also need to look at S/N efficiency, tunability, features, and teh quality of the enhancement, like if its 24 bit or 16 bot or similar

Both companies have great products. Really no one is going to be able to make this decision for you. Pick one that has the features that you like and style and feel.

Alpine layout and function is much better than pioneer, it just seems alpine products have higher quality. This is a personal comparison going from my pioneer Deh-p6700mp to my alpine cda-9886. Wont ever go back to pioneer haha

My vote goes to Alpine. I had a cda98XX for years and loved it. Sounded great unamped, and fantastic amped. I cant speak for Alpine's customer service, simply because I never had a problem with it, but the customer service people at Pioneer are simply horrible. I have a Pioneer avic d2 that has given me more trouble than every other unit ive had combined. A simple google search showed over 100 pages of people having the EXACT same problem as me, and a sales rep even admitted to me it was a known problem, but Pionner still wanted to charge me their $200 flat rate to fix it.

always been a alpine fan, i have a 9805 and a 9807 unit in my cars.. i have had a pioneer unit too.. the only problem i had with the pioneer unit was it had a push button volume, and it took a few years but it eventually started to malfunction.. the push button or whatever would get stuck, whatever. and race to max volume randomly.. both alpine hu's are very nice, i believe alpine uses higher quality components in their units than pioneer.. i've had both, sold both for a long time and working at a shop i saw probably 3 pioneer units return for every 1 alpine.. and still it was low volume of returns, didn't happen often. my pioneer unit lasted 4 years.. my 9807 alpine is still flawless and its a 03 model and my 9805 is an 03 as well and it just started having some issues, but i have ragged the hell out of that one so its understandable..
